The EPA never gives enough time for new engine technologies to be found. I mean, come on. It's a known FACT that one can stand in a room with a RUNNING diesel and -so long that it's running right- suffer virtually NO serious health effects.
But naturally they have to interfere with a system that worked, introducing Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Yes, DEF exists. Just ask the truckers that keep the good moving lining those environmental yahoo's pockets about it.
DEF is nothing but watered down, dyed cow ****. Literally, when the system has a UREA sensor. And for what, a few HCs? BAH! Of course injecting DEF into the exhaust stream generates NOx just to make life even better.

I want to replace my truck. I have a 95 I am very seriously thinking of buying a newer Super Duty, instead of rebuilding my truck. I was going to put a motor and trans and repaint it, then some scumbag from Baja Ca. backed into the right rear side of my truck. (it had no dents or dings in it before a week ago today)

What year Ford Diesel is not required to run DEF ?
I want to replace my truck. I have a 95 I am very seriously thinking of buying a newer Super Duty, instead of rebuilding my truck. I was going to put a motor and trans and repaint it, then some scumbag from Baja Ca. backed into the right rear side of my truck. (it had no dents or dings in it before a week ago today)

up to and including 2010 model year no def fluid , 2011-2015 model year def fluid required, unless you delete the emissions equipment.

Anything 2008 or newer has the exhaust filter though, which on it's own without DEF, is actually worse.
The 1999 - 2003 7.3 trucks had no emissions junk.
The 2003-2007 6.0 trucks had EGR.
The 2008-2010 6.4 trucks had EGR, and DPF, and are common rail.
The 2011+ trucks have EGR, DPF, and urea injection.
