Thinking about a 200k mile truck from a used car lot...thoughts??
here is the link Fort Myers, FL 1997 Ford F-350 XLT Used Truck Cape Coral, FL Naples, FL Galloway Direct | VEB18746 | 1FTJW36F1VEB18746
I owned a 83 F-350 crew/long before, and I LOVED IT!!
but this is a DIESEL!!!
I've watched a lot of "what to look for" videos and threads...but it's 200k miles...other than the normal stuff, if there anything I should look for??
I'm worried about MPG's my current car (2002 camaro V6) gets roughly 19 on my city driving. I've always heard that diesels get horrible MPG, but they don't drop when towing unlike gas motors...
I've never had a diesel before, but I have worked on them, I love diesel so simple haha

Personally I think that price is way too high. I just picked up my 95 Ext cab for half that (and it came with 203k on the clock).
There is still a lot of life left in it at 200k as long as it was well maintained. You need to ask about service records and especially if it has the factory transmission in it. If the tranny is original, I would be afraid that you are falling in on a short lived transmission.
Just my .02 and good luck on the search.

It really depends on location.prices typically regionally fluctuate vastly. Would like to see pics.it may not be a terrible deal depending on the market.personally I paid 6500 for my 96 cc350 4x with 316000 two years ago. It was from my best friend and I knew some history. I felt like it was a fair deal and still do. If the truck is super clean and well maintained it may not be high really.

Waaay too little info in the ad. No mention of transmission type (5-speed is worth aprx. $1000 more in the market), and no photos, no mention of condition of interior, exterior, etc. No info re. mods. This could be a $6000 truck or a $12,000 truck. A _clean_, well-maintained CCLB 5-speed 4x4 with average (and 200k is "average") miles is a $10,000 truck, in most markets.
As for price, comparing to an ECLB F250 is meaningless. All other things being equal, a 4x4 CCLB F350 is worth aprx. $3000 more than a 4x4 ECLB F250.
And whoever told you diesels get poor mileage, I'd like to know what they're smoking. One MAJOR advantage of a diesel is the significantly HIGHER mileage than their gasser counterparts. Even in the '80s, the old diesel Rabbits were getting 50+ MPG.
