Were the tires 10+ years old? Man you are soooo very lucky that CHP didn't tow that thing and leave you standing there.

You didn't add the seat belt ticket into the overall cost, betcha it will push you over the 2k mark Cali is broke so we need donations from you out of towners.

This really is an awesome story it has it all, Americans helping Americans, solo road trip in somewhat classic American iron & plastic, and of course the victory of pulling up to your house in a free truck. You are a braver man than me, congrats.

Tires were all 10+ years old… I'll see If I can date 'em this week.

I THINK I can weasel out of the 'no reg' ticket after I get this this licensed here. I read that if I 'correct' the violation before the court date that part will be dismissed… dunno for sure.

Since I am somewhat 'larger' in stature (fat) my CA buddy sez I can use the excuse that I needed a seat belt extender to get the belt to fit and needed to get to a Ford dealer.

I've been pretty busy on other projects… right now I'm getting my wife's Miata ready to sell has been #1. I then I have a broken piston to replace in our Grand Cherokee. next up is getting an old stock car back on wheels that's been taking up room on my shop lift. Then the F-350 get's some lovin'.

One thing I need to ask… how do I post pix without being a 'supporter'? I can post links but can't get pix to add even from my Photobucket account.

Saw a lot of scenery that I had missed in the last 8 years or so since I quit trucking to the west… now I'm retired and stick pretty close to home these days. Kinda good to get out again...
