Oil Pressure gauge maxed out

Oil Pressure gauge maxed out
My VDO oil pressure gauge is stuck all the way to the right, past the highest number on the gauge and is resting on the little post that keeps the needle from spinning all the way around 360 degress. I just had an alarm installed, but can't imagine it messed with any of the wires from the oil pressure gauge. I took the gauge panel off. All wires attached firmly to the back of the gauge. Traced the wire runs. Everything seems status quo.
Any thoughts on why my oil pressure gauge needle is stuck on "maxed out"? truck is running fine; oil's full, no leaks, runs or errors! So, I be stumped!!! Could it be sending unit on the gauge? or maybe the gauge pooped-out on me? (hope not, only been in the truck about 2 yrs).

Oil Pressure gauge maxed out
Hi Daryl. Have you actually tried putting a gauge on to verify the reading? I bet the local mechanic shop would verify it for you for not too much $$. It is very suspicious though that you just had an alarm installed and now you have this problem. Is it possible they used the sending wire as a power source instead of going to the fuse panel? Let us know, John PS: I did my first Rod Doors kick panel this weekend. My only advise is to make sure you get adhesive susficiently into the design grooves if your panels are so equiped.
