I have a 60 F100 and wanted to do the toyota power steering box option. I purchased the box and pitman arm from ebay, but I am having difficulty finding the mounting bracket. The only mount I have found is in the complete kit. Does anyone know where I could find a bracket by itself? I know midfifty sells one but it is for 53-56 trucks. Thanks

 

its my understanding the 53-56 bracket can be used by drilling out the frame to the 53-56 bolt pattern. should be easy enough by using the bracket as the pattern.

Here is the one I made from AX's plans. Works great. It is on my 1950, but I imagine you could use the plans for a guideline to fit your frame.

 

AFAIK no one makes a 57-60 bolt in specific mount for the Toy box. The Mid Fifty V mount will work by redrilling the frame to the 53-56 mount pattern as said (3 holes)

Whatever mount you use it is necessary to trim about 1/8" off the foot of the Toy box under the pitman arm housing so it will fit on the 2" wide mount, the box will sit flush against the frame, and the pitman shaft will extend far enough thru the frame so the pitman arm will not rub on the face of the frame.

Dmack, did you drill and bolt thru the upper and lower frame flange as shown in the sketch? IMHO those two bolts are necessary for mount stability and strength and to prevent frame cracking..

 

AX, yes I did drill a hole in both the upper and lower flanges. I drilled them after I mounted into the truck with the side mounting holes.

Note : the two larger holes on the left were done to facilitate the front cab mounting bracket. It's rivets would have ended up under the bracket.

I used the 53-55 bracket from midfifty to install in my 52. I was able to use two of the three original box holes. I wanted the no weld option as my mig is not beefy enough to weld thick steel.
