Well here I am again, STUMPED!!
I bought another old ford in hopes of restoring it. It was advertised as a 1972 f250. But I looked up how to decode the tag and under GVRW it says 09000 and under model it has F373. Does anyone know what I have???
Well answered my own question. It is a special order F350 with a 360 2v.
F373 = 1972 F350 Chassis & Cab (no back of cab equipment) w/a 9,000 lb. GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating). But...why do you assume it was a special order?
Note: Compare the VIN stamped on the Warranty Plate with the VIN printed on the registration/title to see if they match.
People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed to install the original Warranty Plates on the replaced doors.
If the VIN's do not match, F373 is probably incorrect. You can get a copy of the original build sheet from martiauto.com
