When truck is cold and the EVBP kicks on, it will make the idle lope
When the truck is cold, or first started in the morning, and the exhaust back pressure valve kicks on after idling for a bit, it will make the idle lope or bounce around. Makes the truck sound really funny. Sort of like it is going off and on. It didn't used to do this.
When the truck is idling high (dp tune) and the EVBP is on this problem doesn't occur.

Sounds like the EBPV is opening and closing continually.
Mine did it too, and I believe it was because it was leaking oil(bad).
It could also be the EBP sensor is dirty/clogged, it failed or the tube is dirty/clogged.
I first unplugged it, then I installed a delete pedestal and removed the valve from the exhaust housing.

Tugly - it didn't used to do it, I don't believe the tuner is an issue as it worked fine with it before.

I drove 400 miles to my vacation and the truck up and died - it never did that before either. Pulling the chip cleared my problem, and there was nothing wrong with the chip - there was a problem with the connection to the chip.
I'm just saying it helps to eliminate variables, and the connection on the chip is a variable. To be honest, I doubt pulling the chip will help, but I could be wrong. I'm doing what I can to avoid a series of frustrations.

I will give the sensor and tube a good cleaning, but I doubt that's the problem. Where is the ebpv located? You said yours was leaking oil? Over the past year I have developed an oil leak which I can't seem to find.

It is kind of hard to see since the actuator rod is on the back side facing the firewall.
They tend to leak out the rod that connects to the valve in the exhaust. Diesel Orings has a a rebuild kit for it 99-03 Turbo Pedestal EBPV Rebuild Kit
They also have the delete pedestal Garrett Turbo Pedestal NON-EBPV 1999.5 - 2003 and exhaust outlet This Garrett High Flow Non-EBPV Exhaust Outlet will improve exhaust flow from the turbo

I've had the romps before on a different truck and this is nothing like it.
It literally sounds like my evbp valve is turning on/off. I can hear the exhaust tone changes as if it's closed, then it'll open, then close, then open, etc.
high idling it works fine.
used to work fine at normal idle.
Deleting it isn't an option. I'm in alaska and it is a must have to help warm up in the morning.
