I've got to scrap my old Ford Explorer but would like to put the old wheels on my Ford F150 (with 302 Engine) that was made in 1979.

Is this compatible or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I think you will find the F150 has a 5 on 5.5" pattern, vs.the Exploder 5 on 4.5", thus, they will not fit.

Are your Explorer wheels 16x7 or 15x7?

Don't bother with adapters either imo. These wheels are just not that expensive, and they are a very light wheel. They seem to hold up under Explorers, but on an adapter under an F150 I think you are looking for trouble.

 

The Wheels are 15 inch.

Surely that will make them fit?!

85E is right. The bigger trucks have a 5.5 inch bolt circle and the smaller trucks have a 4.5 inch circle........... has nothing to do with 15 - 16 - 17 inch tires.
