Before you cut that up, would you be willing to take a photo side by side of the plastic liner vs the metal one to compare shape/depth?

Absolutely. Excellent idea BTW. I wanna say I was thinking about doing that already... possibly not.

Custom Brace for box lip, kind of works like the wheel arch brace.

Heating and hammering.

Getting close to done:

There was a bit of work in getting the whole thing level and even. Several hours of twisting measuring and re-doing were involved. There are few hard straight edges to work from, so it's an average of everything to look straight.

Bed pillar holes near tailgate filled:

Hope to be to paint in two weeks:

Two weeks till paint?? You guys are making great progress! Why did you guys decide to use a 67-72 box liner vs fabricating a new one?

Aren't you going to have to modify it quite a bit to match the newer bed contours and smaller size?

Comparison pics as requested:

There is some extra depth on the metal box for narrow frames.

That's crazy, going by previous pics, I would have said the 73-79 box was taller.

It'd be a really trick to fabricate a second (non-factory? but factory-looking) driver-side mounted storage cabinet to mirror your recently installed unit.
That'd be an relatively easy challenge for your skillset IF you had access to more of those parts....
Looks great, love the mods, best of luck again.

Same amount of work, equally as cool.

So, is the plan to use the old piece of fender you cut off to create the flange for the new box?
