North Dakota F-3 Time Machine Find

No, it is a regular generator. The other day I saw a '52 3/4 ton cab and chassis sitting next to its box, which had been mounted on a frame for use as a trailer. Grill teeth and all trim were missing. I wonder if it was the same pickup (cab/chassis) offered to me online for $250. Regardless, I may chase that dragon as well, at least the box.

Still makes me cringe to think I could have had two 3/4 tons years ago for little or nothing from a neighbor's dairy farm I worked on. One was 48-50, the other was 51-52. After getting my Marmon-Herrington, I planned to acquire them for parts. I hadn't asked for them yet, and before I could, the scrappers came. Long story short, those Fords are now being treated to the ultimate insult-being turned into Crapsuns, Turdotas, Hond'ohs, and Watsdats.

So a question on the dump bed. Were those a dealer add on or farmer additions? I have never seen this type of setup in person so dont know.
I would have guessed they would have just used a pto off the trans for the dumpbeds, maybe some did?
Anyone else here have a dump bed F2 F3 Truck?
I want more pictures, please ..
Thanks

I believe most had PTO driven pumps, usually the pump was inside the tank itself. My Marmon Herrington had the original bed replaced with a unit hoist. These consisted of a hoist and subframe that was u-bolted to the pickup or truck frame, much like some larger trucks. My M-H frame wasn't altered in the least. I haven't crawled under this green one to see exactly how it was mounted, but I did peek under the rear of the bed, and it is NOT a unit frame hoist. The fact that the box sits right on the frame hints that the hoist must be tied into the frame. I can't say whether Ford offered the whole hoist set up, I would rather doubt it (especially on the F3 and under). There were and still are nation-wide jobbers that build boxes, unit hoists, tank/pumps, etc. In addition, many machine shops in the midwest, at least, would build their own boxes and combine them with hoists for installation on customers trucks.
I'll get more pictures. I'm going to stop in again in the next few days. Believe I'm just going to grab the engine, transmission, running boards, rear fenders, and maybe the grill. I just might have to find a use for the pump. I can see it needs a seal, judging from the oil it puked on the engine. He offered the whole thing for 750, but I don't need a carcass hanging around.
