96' F350 1 ton Rear drum brakes

Afternoon all,

After searching and looking at the FAQ's, didn't find exactly what I was looking for.
I am replacing a wheel cylinder on one side and the other side the pivot pin that has a small nut on the back has come loose so the E brake lever isn't exactly in right. I need to put the pin back into the hole at the top center while keeping that little wire routed around that track. I cannot get that pin in the hole and the keys of the lever lined up because I cannot get enough slack in the E brake cable to spin the E brake lever. Is there a way to loosen the E brake cable or adjust it to loose to get some slack?

Lastly I have one side apart and the other side together that needs the E brake corrected. Is there a sequence to put all these springs back together with the shoes and then reassemble? I took a bunch of digital pics plus I have the other side to look at. just wondering if there is an easy way to re-assemble once I put the new wheel cylinder in?

Thanks guys.

Sid

The best advice I can give you, you have already done take lots of pictures or use the other side for reference. As far as going back together it will be reverse as taking it apart the first spring you take off will be the last back on. Make sure you grease all of your pivot points really good and clean the adjuster screw really good and put some anit-sieze on it.

Rear drums

The new wheel cylinder side went back together after some muscling of the short "curly" springs onto the hooks and some very choice words. That side works great. the other side looks to have a seized E brake cable to that side not allowing me to put the lever correctly back into the hole. I'll just have to disconnect it from the cable for the weekend and just get another cable.

Thanks all.

Sid
