92 to 81 cab swap?

Hey guys, so I looked for a while and couldn't find what I'm looking for but I'm sure it's on here somewhere.

Anyways, soon I'm acquiring a 1981 F150 with a 360 bored 60 over with a couple goodies on it. The guy claims it's pushin near 500 horse. I don't know yet as I haven't even seen it but from the pictures it looks like he may have some money into it.

He also has a 1992 F150 with a 300 straight six that's got over 200k miles that he said he'd give me for pretty much nothing. I'm just wondering if a cab swap is possible from the 92 onto the 81? I know it is from like 87 on up, but I wasn't sure about an 81. Also what all does it take to do a full cab swap? Weekend job? Or is it worth a couple weekends? I've never done one. I have done a front clip, but not a full cab.

And anyone have opinions on this guy sayin it's got 500 horse in an 81 4x4 with a 410? Thanks for your input guys, I appreciate it.

360? Not familiar with that, but I can tell you-unless that thing is revving to 9k and has 13:1 with some real big money heads on it, or a blower...its not making 500 horse.
also not familiar with the details of a cab swap, but can do it in a weekend provided you dont need major rust surgery (or have taken care of it on the new cab).
Im extending my gantry crane to be able to lift the cab myslef (i live alone). Need to pull the bed, then pull the cab, and slide the cab backwards off the frame. This is just in my case.

Thanks Greg, I appreciate your input. I'm agreeing on that as far as the 500 horse thing. I don't know much about a 360 either.

The body mounts are all the same. There are some firewall differences. 87-91 is more similar to the 81.

you will have to swap the nose with the cab. plus all electrical.
but it will not be easy.
the 92 is computer controlled, plus has no provisions for a cable speedometer. the 81 is all mechanical, so you will have to figure out how to make the speedometer work.
360, or 460?
360 is an old FE engine, and there is no way you will ever get 500 hp out of a 360
it would be a push to get 350 hp out of a 360.
if it is a 460, then i could see 500hp, but even then it takes A LOT of money to hit those power numbers.

Definitely a 360. But it's bored over to be a 410.
