maintenance.

Coming up on 3K on my 15' F350 and was wondering when you guys did your first oil change and are you just using Motorcraft oil, or running any synthetics that you guys like? Ive always done gas motors at 3K miles, but coming from my 6.0 its a little change of pace than what i was used to.

I'm not using synthetic. Some good feedback in this thread:

I changed the first time at 3K because the 1st one was free (not really) at the dealership and we were leaving for the winter. The second one was done at a dealership in Texas after another 5K and I'm thinking that every 5K is what I'm going to use for now. For what it cost at the dealerships and the pain it is on the road to change it I'm going for the first time in my life let them do it with their Motocraft blend from now on. Next change will be somewhere on the east coast this fall.

Definitely at 3K. There lots of metal pieces floating around and are filling up your filter. The dealership offered a free first oil change with Motorcraft Synblend. At 8K I switched to Mobil 1. I have used it in all of my vehicles and have had good results.

Did the first one at 1500 and then at 7500... have been sticking to 7500 mile changes as recommended in the book since. I've used MC 5W20 for all changes except one.

Just did it at 22,000 over the weekend because I have a trip coming up. These trucks are super easy to work on in case you're considering whether to do it yourself or not.

Every 6 mths or 7500 miles whichever comes first, Amsoil synthetics followed with a bottle of Amsoil fuel injector treatment/cleaner. Been doing this for years on my other vehicles and the 6.2 is no different. Truck runs great and smooth.

Changed it at 2,000 and then at 5,000. I do every 5,000 in mine as I did in my previous truck. I use the MC syn blend and MC filter as well. Tomorrow will be exactly one year since I bought mine, and I only have 5,600 on it, so I'll probably start changing it at the 6 month mark if I haven't put the 5,000 on it. As was mentioned, it's very easy to do yourself.

Every 7500 miles. Mobil 1 0W-30.

I don't mind using a higher quality oil. But I'm tired of doing the changes every 3K-4K.

Mine is changed when the dealer says to on their sticker. I always go to the dealer as they are cheaper than any of the fast lube places and check more (may not be the case everywhere though) and I just put in what they recommend. My truck has abt 72,000 miles on it now.
