I just got home from a 10 day western road trip, MANY PARTS!

My Family and I just arrived home from a 10 day Western road trip. We went to Yellowstone, did a couple College visits, Rocky Mountain National Forest, Red Rocks, Garden of the Gods and shopped for a few parts!

Here are a few pics of what we brought home! Enjoy! Bought the panel in Cheyenne Wy its a 1953 and is really solid. All the parts fit inside!

I had a good friend some years ago that was into Corvairs. He would collect sheetmetal here in the SoCal area and load up a big trailer and head East to barter it away for driveline parts. I am sure your friends/customers will apprecate your efforts to bring some solid tin parts home. Looks like you made a good haul!

Kevin,

Looks like you did well. I do have one question. How did you go getting leads for where to go that might have parts? Just curious

Tac, actually everything I bought I purchased off craigs list (some of it months ago)

There was one junk yard I really wanted to go to and it was only open on Saturday and my last day there was Friday. Maybe next trip since I wanted to bring this home but ran out of space

Yes the trip went very well as the guy I bought the panel from let me keep my trailer at his place while we went on the "family" part of the vacation.

We put 4,550 miles on the truck, but only had to trailer the load 1350 miles back home.

I was getting 15 mpg with the empty trailer on the way out. I was getting 18-20mpg without the trailer, then only 11mpg with the load going home.

I never thought I would get to see anything so beautiful as Yellowstone and rust free 56 doors!

I'll be retracing your path in a few weeks, trailer in tow, and hope to have a fraction of your success. I have some stuff lined up, will be catching Josh on the flip side to work a swap, but also hope to find a few of those magical western yards. Can't wait. Stu

Stu, if you get a chance you sure are welcome to come by. I live about an hour North of West Yellowstone. Yes I do know of a few junk yards with excellent old Ford stuff in them. The guy in town here has three F2's and F3's just waiting for the right person.

Don't forget me, either, if you're in the neighborhood. I'm only about 25 miles north of Hermiston, OR, just off I-84. Would look forward to a quick visit if you could squeeze in the time.
