I have the 7.3 injector plug and I am applying 12 volts to it. I have not replaced the Stc fitting my self. I would assume it would have been done previously but that does not mean it's not bad. Now as I have dug further into it there is what sounds like an air leak back there so I pulled the cover and I have a very strong hissing sound which I am assuming is my leak. I am told there is only two things that can leak. The Stc fitting and the o rings under the hpop. Going to go investigate it further.

So is it the revised STC fitting or the original style?

I believe the one on here is the new style especially since it looks like the alignment tool is still in place on top.

you may try and get a better look at the fitting it as I believe they made a metal plate as a way to keep the original STC fitting from coming apart, is the alignment plate metal or plastic? The revised STC fitting only requires the alignment tool to set the alignment when installing the fitting into the pump and is then discarded before the pump is reinstalled.

I did take a second look after I posted. It is a metal bracket and it looks like it goes from the two 8 mm bolts all the way across the back. So does this mean it's most likely the old fitting that commonly fails?

I am thinking so, but watch that video and see if its possible to see the STC fitting under that plate just to be sure. There are stark differences between the two styles of fittings so it should be easy enough to tell. p>

FYI : The IPR won't make a sound when it's closed.
No click. What the power does is hold it down. It's
the pressure that pushed is open from what I understand.

Found my leak, there's a hole on the firewall side of the hpop that must have had a machined plug in it that is no longer there. After I changed the Stc out to the new style fitting I re pressurized the system and could still here the leak. After feeling around I found it. Well I guess back to the parts store in the morning. This trip is gonna hurt though!

Is there an aftermarket one out there that is better than the oem? Or for my relatively stock truck is the OE the best one?

Just to be sure, does your HPOP look like this one?

This is the update STC fitting. No plastic collar around the middle of the round section.

Wish I had a picture of the back of this pump to see where the leak is . The earlier style pump has a hole with a steel ball in it that can get popped out when the pump fails.

Here is good thread on the subject. Don't miss page 2.

I will sit down and read your link in a bit. My pump does look just like the one pictured. If your looking at the backside of the pump (where the gear is) the hole the air is coming out is a most in the center of the pump behind the gear. There is another plug to the left and slightly above it. I had to rotate the pump.and look threw the gear just to look into the hole.

I read through the thread but did not grasp what you were tryng to point out to me. Mine is the new style pump as mine is the 2005 model year. As mentioned is blowing air directly out of the pump back side. I assume this is a failed pump but I have no prior knowledge to say that it is.
