Brain damage Help?

My son has a 1969 F 250 camper special and has a dana 60 rear end. We have looked just about every where to find the spindle nuts that hold the wheel hub on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Are you tring to remove the axle? Or ????

If you look at the wheel you can see ~6 bolts in the center of the hub that hold the axle shaft into the axle tube of each rear tire.

If you are tring to remove the brake drum, first remove the axle shaft then you will see a very large nut that has to be removed. Actually it is 2 nuts sandwitched together will a retainer. The nut is 2 5/16 if memory serves me.

take care,

we have removed the axel.

Someone before us put the spindle nuts on cross threaded and ruined them trying to find new ones.

"IF" it's the original axle it makes a difference on when in 1969 it was made. The nuts before serial number F30,001 were 2.38" hex with 1 13/16" thread. After that serial number they were 2.56" with 2" thread. Do you want me to locate the early or late?

That's prolly because in 1975 Econolines E250/350 got nylon lined one piece nuts locked by a wedge. Somewhere around 1980 pickups got the same nuts. Ford hasn't used the 2 piece nuts for quite some time.
