Swap a 1996 E van 351 in to a 1991 F250 with a 302?
I know the blocks are similar and I know the basic differences but will a 1996 351 from an E van easily swap into my 1991 F250 with a 302?
Van is an auto, f250 is a 5 speed stick
I was just curious because the E van is as new as it is?
Thanking anyone/everyone in advance!

Yes this is a relatively straightforward swap. You need a 28oz flywheel for it(5.0 version is 50oz) and you will need to either modify the 5.8 distributor or buy an earlier version that has the correct configuration. The distributor differences include the PIP, TFI, and drive gear, your '91 has a distributor mounted TFI while the '96 has a remote module and that means the internal PIP module is also different. Also a '94+ 5.8 will have a roller cam in it which requires a steel distributor gear so you can't just install an earlier 5.8 distributor you must replace the cast gear with a steel one. You have all the parts you need on hand though, the TFI and PIP from the 5.0 distributor will transplant into the 5.8 distributor once it is dismantled, you just need to create a hole for the PIP/TFI interconnect and drill and tap 2 holes to mount the TFI.
You can't use any wiring from the '96 or the PCM as it is OBD2 so you will need a 5.8 PCM from a truck with a manual or C6 auto trans. And you can't use the EGR system on the '96 motor but the valve and position sensor from the 5.0 will transfer you just have to buy a 5.8 EGR tube for an earlier motor.
