EOT/ECT highest ever

It got up to 97 today and on my normal drive home at 65mph EOT got up to 211 and ECT up to 206. Gonna hate to see it when we get to 100+ I suppose temps will get higher when air temps go up.

A/C adds a lot of heat to the system.

Sorry if I don't remember, but are you set up for monitoring yet? I'd be watching Fan rpm and seeing if it was ramping up at 206. You are in Miss. it's not as hilly as we are and I'm not even gonna' see those temps, empty on a hot day...

Do you have an EGR delete? is the EGR still plugged in?

Unladen I could head to Tahoe on a 90 deg day and stay in the 190s on ECT...

So as long as I dont go over the threshold on temps I'm good to go? I know my temp splits are good but concerned about the actual temps getting high and not even summer yet. If I were towing I'd probably freak out over the temps.

Sort of a hijack ...... I heard of an interesting test for a weak water pump. I had been asking some old-time mechanics at work about verifying a weak water pump. One said that he would get the engine fully warmed up and get the coolant temp at least 10 degrees hotter than the thermostat rating. He would then apply a fine mist of water to the radiator. With a healthy water pump, the coolant temp would quickly drop (in way less than a minute). I wouldn't want to spray a lot of water and risk hitting a hot engine with a large amount of cold water, but his approach sounded interesting.

I have heard of several ways to check the flow - ie from a disconnected heater hose for example - but that method didn't sound like it would tell you much unless the water flow wasn't pumping much of anything.

Yep use scangauge 2. Gonna have to set up fan speed. Truck is 100% stock except for blue spring. I do have a few small hills but nothing special. I have noted once at temp for every 2 degree ect falls eot falls 1 degree.

Yep. Just did oil change about 600 miles ago. Put t6 5/40 in it. And of course used oem filter and cap. Also put a new degas cap on yesterday keeping everything fresh

Synth is so much more tolerant of heat...

Need to run it more so we can figure out what (or not) is going on with your relatively new ride...

I misread the original post, stop-n-go driving with high ambient temps and A/C will see 200+ ECT, however, at anything over 45 mph it should drop to normal 192-196 ECT.

I would monitor Fan Speed RPM and Duty Cycle to verify the fan is operating correctly.
