The area under the torque curve is greater at low RPMs with the 6.8 liter V10 than the 6.2 liter V8.

Personally properly geared the 6.2 should be able to pull the same amount of weight, but it may not inspire the same level of confidence or attain the equal fuel economy. (Hard to believe, I know)

Once DI is added onto the 6.2 liter the assumption is that the 6.2 will have enough power to be a better performer overall enough to warrant phasing in the 6.2 to replace the 6.8 without annoying the commercial buyers who tend to go with what they know "just works".

I have a 2011 F350 4x4 6.2L LB CC with 3.73. Coming up on 100,000 miles. Have owned 4 diesels prior. Tow a variety of trailers up to 10,000 and also have a slide in Camper. Live at 7,000' elevation. Tow up to 80mph at times, for extended periods of time.

No regrets going gas, will not buy a diesel again. While I spend a little more in fuel costs, love the dependability and simplicity and low costs of my 6.2.

At elevation, and when towing, had wished I had gotten the 4.30 gears. Probably the only thing I would do differently next time.

Once again, love the 6.2....

Thanks for all the input. I went ahead and ordered a F350 CCLB RWD with 6.2 and 4.30 rear axle. I think it will do great for me and My occasional towing. Now if it would just get here. Again thanks to all.

Now that you have your 2015 F350 6.2L 4.30's for awhile, do you feel you made the right decision with this gasser?

Yes, I have a little over 15,000 in a year on the truck right now with approx 900 of that towing.
I didn't start towing till after 5000 per ford so for me 98-99% of the miles is daily commute(50 miles a day combo city / interstate). Truck has done every thing I have ask it to do with no issues and done it well. Total avg mpg since I have owned it is 10.5, the avg on the lie o meter is 11.5. I usually get 8-9 towing. I have run E 85 in it but the mpg drop is not worth the difference in fuel cost.

Thanks, good info.
I too tried the E85 in my F150, good power as gas but the mpg was terrible, never again and at only .50 cheaper than the 88 I use (No 87 here), it cost me more $ with the E85.
