out of opitions on 4.6l

I have a 2000 Expedition 4.6l with 190000 miles in my shop for not running. I have got it to run, but it is missing on #2,5,6,7,8. checked the timing and correct, have fire on coils and power to injectors. Cats are not plugged up. I am out of options please help. compression test was 150,90,120,120,140,60,160,160/1-8 in order.

Broken valvespring maybe? The 2 low cylinders are suspect. The valve could be staying open throwing the mixture off for the other cylinders

I just don't think 1 valve spring broke will cause the whole left bank to miss. Is there something I need to look at with the intake bottom?

It can and it will. If the exhaust spring broke then the other cylinder's exhaust gets sucked into the intake leaning out the mixture. If the intake spring broke then the other cylinder's exhaust gets sucked into the intake leaning out the mixture. Regardless, you need to address the 2 cylinders with low compression first.

Do an air hold test on all cyl. That will narrow down valve issues .

did a leak down test on all cyl, if stayed in the good for all.
per the vin (8th is 6) I have a windsor but it said all the windsor eng have 14 bolts for the valve cover and I have 11. they said that is only a romeo eng? Junkyard said the engines will not interchange.

Something doesn't sound right. If you have 2 low cylinders then something will show up on the leakdown test. I would re-do the compression test to verify the readings. You could try a noid light on the injector and coil connectors to verify the PCM and wiring is good.

already checked the fire and gas, both are good (noid light and spark test). I did recheck the compression and all are the same as before. Someone told me that the cam lobes can spin on the cam, so I slowly turned over engine with wrench and it seems right.

On the weak cylinders, reset for a leak down test with shop air regulated at 90 PSI. Take the oil cap off and listen for blowing air. Get the air intake tube out of the way and open the throttle butterfly, again listening for rushing air. Last, stick your head by the tail pipe. Also, take the radiator cap off and look for bubbling as this would point at a head gasket.

That compression is going SOMEWHERE. This style of blow-by test will narrow down your search to either a eroded valve face, valve, ring or gasket issue.

How about the intake gaskets, PCV hose at back of motor, I've seen those plastic intake crack under the valley, do a smoke test. Like for the evap problems, but smoke a direct line into the motor.
