Front end noise (pop) and steering

On my drivers side, I hear this popping, creaking noise. I checked the fender bolts and they are tight. I was going over some washboard type road surface yesterday and the steering felt a bit like there was play in it. I can only feel this small amount of play when going over this type of fast, bumpy type terrain. Front end components were looked over and said to be fine. The front leafs were redone a year or two ago as well. Any ideas? Thanks everyone. This forum is a huge help!!!

I would recheck those bolts. I thought mine were tight and when I tightened them a second time, the noise went away. Other than that, you might be in need of axle pivot bushings. I had mine replaced because you could hear clunking when going over speed bumps and such. The bushings were shot, so I had the entire front end with ball joints, bushings, and radius arm bushings replaced. Let us know what happens!

Could be spring bushings/shackle bushings, they would make racket when I turned the wheel . In the process of changing mine now.

Glad that took care of it! I wasn't so lucky. Looks like pivot bushings are in my near future.
