I Could Stand A Little More Power

I was under the impression the PCM would need to be reflashed in order to use any of the aftermarket tunes. Is that not true?
I do plan on changing the filter. The truck is sitting right now because I'm in between layoffs and don't drive the truck to work. I've read some of the threads on the 6637 filter and will get around to that soon along with some steering improvement and shocks.
Do you have links to these chip manufacturers? How does one go about installing them anyway? Everyone says "chip", is there something similar to an SD card you have on your PC but made for an engine tune?
A word of note, while I have an OH registration, I'm in CA and may be here a while and may have to resort to CA registration. Are these tunes CA smog compliant?

I am with Glen (oldbird1965) on everything! not that far on modding. I am running stage 1 rosewood injectors and the t500 hpop. in stock programing with that I can not hit 1250 degrees after putting the after cooler on and fixing the exhaust leaks.
before modding I towed with the edge in 60 hp tune and ran 1250 for hours on end.
as for power, coming home from hunting with my 23' 5th wheel camp trailer (packed with stuff) and tanks full and the bed of my truck full of all the real heavy stuff I never shut my cruise control off on the 6% grade and I stayed at 72mph.
most of the time towing I get 10 to 14 mpg, when I haul hay I drop to about 8 mpg but I am over 26,000 lbs with that load.

If you want to start down this road, get your checkbook out now. All these experienced guys told me that and I thought
"Meh, my trans will be fine.. My stock turbo will be good... I'll get bigger than needed injectors and de tune them..."
2 years, 10 grand later I'm still not close to being done.
-Do the intake, exh, and a custom tuned chip. If that doesn't do it, get ready to spend. It can be awesome, get great mileage, be more powerful than you'll need, but it will cost you.

MBRP has a good system. I've had some terrible customer service from DiamondEye, but their system has worked quite well on my truck. If you know the manufacturer of your current system, why not call them for replacement parts?
It sounds like a rubber bumpstop or something is missing. I'd be concerned with what caused the current pipe to be smashed in the first place. If you don't address that situation, it will most likely happen again.

I don't know the brand of the exhaust on there now, it was on the truck when I bought it, but I do know it's not a piece meant for an F350. It isn't the right shape and it didn't have a big enough arch to clear the axle. Someone just used something that looked like it would go and they were wrong!

In that case, it might be a good idea to order an entire system, from the turbo back, to ensure the system works properly and this doesn't happen again. I have the 4" turbo back aluminized system from DiamondEye. It works fine, but like I said, I'm not impressed with their customer service. I wanted, and ordered, their stainless steel system with the lifetime warranty, The shop received and installed their aluminized system with the one- or three- year warranty. I don't recall what warranty length it was, but either way, it's expired now.
