non F100 Dizzy help

Im installing a new dizzy in my 65 200 Mustang.

When I pulled the old dizzy #1 cylinder was on TDC on the compression stroke. The rotor was pointing dead on 3 o clock, corresponding to #1 plug wire on the cap.

When I install the new dizzy, the best I have been able to get when looking down at the rotor from above is just counterclockwise from the 3 o clock position, about 1/2 way from the 2 and 3 o clock position.

Am I a tooth off?
