10 FX4 Fuel Problems!!
I've done some reading but can't find a similar problems. So here goes it.
I have a 10 FX4 "036 gallon tank" A couple of weeks ago I noticed the truck starving for fuel and would turn off once I let off the gas. I also noticed the fuel gauge started to incorrectly display the fuel left in the tank. The gauge will not mark all the way to Full and will show empty where it should be at Half a tank. Once the gauge displays empty the truck will begin to starve even though there is about 15 gallons of gas in tank. I fill it up, give it a few minutes and it starts up again. I want to replace the fuel pump but as I read it might be the FPDM.
My question is if the truck thinks it is on empty as per the gauge, will the truck start to starve itself? I would not think so but who knows. Can the fuel pump start having issues at less than half a tank?
Is the Fuel Pump/Gauge/filter all in one unit?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I believe you have this issue. Read it out to the end, also, search this forum for anything with "bent fuel pump" or similar. Several examples of this exact problem, and you need to address it quickly before damage is done. If you run it down to 1/4 tank or less and look under the truck after a decent length drive, you will probably see the tank sucked in. Most examples I have read about, as well as when it happened to me, there was no check engine light related to this problem directly, just later as the truck started to run lean. Read up on all these symptoms , and I think you will find some common ground. Let us know what you find , hope all goes well !
