Looking to buy a '06 6.0

Hello,
New guy here. I am looking at buying a '06 350 with the 6.0. The truck is gorgeous, but I won't let the looks fool me, it has 217k on it. It seems that it has been cared for very well, the interior and body is mint.

I have a feeling someone bought this truck and mostly drove it on the highway. The dealer is asking 10k, but my main question is should I even be considering a truck with this many miles on it? It is an '06 350 Crew Cab King Ranch 4x4 with the 6 3/4 on it. It seems like the 6.0 has such a bad rep, but I have been reading a bunch of articles that say it doesn't deserve it, especially this one on diesel power.

I haven't seen the truck yet but I am going to check it out this week. I mostly use it as a personal car with only a 12 mile commute everyday. I would also use it to move my bike around to local races, with the few 1000 mile+ trips a year. Not to much towing, just the occasional move of a 5k towable lift and a 4 ton skid steer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

10k for that miles is not bad depending if it is a 2 or 4wd. Ask for service records and take you a scangauge 2 or the torque app and check the vitals. Visual I would look at the coolant level and color, should be gold or red NOT green. As well as signs of the degas bottle puking. Take it for a spin and get it warmed up and give it a wot run and see if it pukes.

With proper maintenance (records will show if you ask obviously) those miles are fine, especially for 10k? IF IT WAS ME, i'd jump on it, but i have my own truck Make sure to test drive, WOT for coolant pressure puking, check oil, degas cap, overall engine compartment etc.

You must be from the US of A because damn that price astounds me to be honest.

I payed 11,900 canadian for a 2005 lariat with 190,000km (110,000 miles?) as comparison. Had 4 lift, AM rims and tires rest stock

As you are in the NE USA, look under it to make sure rust hasn't eaten through it! Esp the oil & tranny pans!

I bought my 2006 new and have had it 9 years. Other than a bad wiring harness and a few sensor codes I have had no problems with it. I too have heard all the blah about the 6.0. The only definite is to do the EGR delete. I have 92,000 miles on mine and just did a week long trip to the mountains and she did great! My mechanic has said most of the problems occur with people toying them up improperly. My only problem is I don't drive her enough since my work vehicle is in the yard!
