Well sure didn't want to dig this back up but i guess i learned my lesson on this one. Never will i ever buy an aftermarket water pump again !!!!!!

For those who have been following this you know the story. And for those who haven't well read up.

After 5pumps and the newest pump with a oem pulley, oem, fan, and oem fan clutch basically everything connected to the pump including flushed cooling system and new oil cooler o-rings new degas cap and cat ELC coolant my newest pump is weeping.

Ive been gone from home and haven't driven in the past 2 weeks but maybe 40mi. Started the truck up today on my day home and herd the belt cherp a few times. So when i got back home i inspected the weep hole via extend mirror and flashlight and sure enough its weeping red ELC pretty good. I got probably 15k mi or less out of this one.

So i guess my lesson learned is DO NOT BUY AFTERMARKET PUMPS FROM THE AUTO PARTS STORE !!!!!!!

So guess i will be ordering one from clay tonight OEM and hopefully that will solve the issue.

 

I installed the International pump from Diesel Site a few months ago and could not be happier with the product, the solid feel of the cast iron pump, the overall install and the ability to change the filter within 30 seconds.

I know the price is higher, but it may be worth the extra to have peace of mind.

 

YUUUUUP !!!! SOLD Im so tired of messing with it i do believe thats the route I'm going !

 

Ok not trying to beat a dead horse here but just out of curiosity……… why on earth would these pumps keep on failing ? Not that they are blowing up and not working but why would they start leaking out of the weep hole so quickly ! Im just stumped here.

I know it must have to do with the cheap construction of the pump and its seals etc but that quick just blows my mind.

 

It sounds to me that there must be other issues besides the pump(s). Something must be out of alignment causing undue stress to the pump shaft and seals to go through that many in such a short time. Unlucky with after market stuff is one thing, but this is really pushing it in my book.

 

Thats what i was thinking but everything looks straight and inline with the wp pulley. Could the harmonic balancer have any effect

 

Well, my guess is either the components used for the rebuild, or the workmanship. Or both.
