Old brake conversion - which calipers will fit?
I have a stuck caliper on my 1965 F100 and it is in the shop. I did not do the conversion from Drum to power disk and the shop has called asking what year the "new" brakes are. I Realize that no one (not even Number Dummy) can tell me exactly what year brakes are on the truck, but can I narrow the possibilities?
What parts are interchangeable? Is there a way to tell from looking at the setup? What year F100 brake parts would you buy if you wanted to have the best chance of getting it right on the first try?

You know that if it came off an F series truck there is a 99% chance it is pre 1980.
How many different calipers were there?
I would go by the shop, pick the caliper up and visit the parts store. I bet that if it is in stock, they can match it up in no time.
I search Autozones site for brake caliper. The front caliper fits 241 vehicles between 1973 and 1979. Im guessing that is the one you need.

Thank you
Thanks to everyone who answered, especially Number Dummy. I hope you are all keeping healthy as you are an invaluable source of knowledge.
JoWilker...unfortunately (or fortunately) for me the brakes had already been converted (very well) when I bought the truck, but very good advice on buying the donor.
Problem is resolved..replaced pads on both sides and caliper--it was in rough shape. Any 73-79 F-100/150 brake caliper and pad will work on my setup; and it sounds like it would on most others as well. Really appreciate all of the advice from you guys as always.
