It was my second favorite T-case next to the NP205.
I love the low range in 4x4 and the high is pretty good. Plus in my opinion it is easier to work on with the detachable tail shaft.

In my opinion a lot better then the 1345.
Really it is an opinion thing. My 88 F150, our 89 F250, 91 F250 all have the BW1356. The transfer case I have laying around for the 89 F350 4x4 conversion is a NP205.

The major weakness is the oil pump can spin after many miles, which will lead to a nice mess. Search "BW 1356 oil pump mod" to learn more. They're pretty stout otherwise though. The chain is massive.

This is my plow truck for my driveway. It has never said no in the short time I have owned it (bought it last November). She deserves to be refreshed!
I originally intended to only pull the motor as my spark plugs rusted and broke inside the heads, but when I was under the truck wrestling with the bell housing bolts with minimal success, I decided to pull it all in one shot and I am very glad I did!
Just about every emmissions pipe on the truck was rusted out and broke, spark plugs were ready to fall off or could not come out, rear main seal was leaking, two intake bolts were loose, intake gasket was leaking fuel/air mixture, vacuum lines were cracking. Anyway, you get the point, 104,000 miles or not, it was time for an overhaul and the only way to do it right is by having it all out in front of you!

For a 1993 and only 104K that's some serious rust (darn highway people and their salt trucks)--- good luck with the project!!

Been so busy with work, here is an update. I just got my GT40p heads back fresh from the machine shop. Installed them yesterday and painted them. I have the day off today so I am going to try and prep, paint and install the intake and accessories. Next I will have to order a set of headers and a Y-pipe and I will be ready to put everything back in. Will post some more pics today when I am done.

Wow, that engine really needed to be pulled to do all that needs to be done. I have a '92 f150, 5.8L with 155,000 miles and it is rust free both in the engine bay and the frame/body. It makes me glad that they use very little deicer on the highways here in Oregon. I assume there is a lot of salt on the winter roads in NY which accounts for all that rust.
