Trying to identify my C6 transmission

Are you positive there is no tag on the servo cover? I thought mine didn't have one either but it was hidden under lots of grime. The only thing that's really on it is an ID number and the date of assembly. The number you listed is the standard late 70's-early-mid 80's casting number. Mine has the same number. If you're trying to find out what servo piston you need, there's a single letter code on the outside of the servo housing.

I have two C6's, same casting number. One has wave plates in with a different number of clutch disks and steel disks. Just want to make sure I am putting the right parts in the one I am rebuilding. I had rebuilt the one with the wave plates in and had all tolerences where they needed to be. But it seemed to have the brakes on when it shifted from 2 to 3rd. So I took it out. Didn't want to ruin all the brand new parts. Now I bought another to compare. And of coarse it has different combination of clutches. Just want to make sure I do it right this time!

The C6 case is the same: 1975 Econoline 351W/460 from serial number W20,001; 1976/79 Econoline 351W/460; 1975/79 FoMoCo Psssenger Cars; 1977/79 F100/350 351M/400/460.
Look on the trans dipstick for the stamped Ford ID number, post what it is.
