Tuff Dawg Engine

Anyone have any experience or history with Tuff Dawg Engines out of Phoenix, AZ?

I pulled my 360 out of my '74 SCS this weekend and have the chance to pick up a bolt in 390 rebuilt by Tuff Dawg from a unfinished Bronco project in the neighborhood.

They advertise the engine on flea bay for $8K (engine and C-6). The guy who owns it wants $4K. Edelbrock RPM intake and heads. Unsure of carb at this point. Suppose to push around 400 hp at the crank. I know I'll spend $2K-$3K if I did it myself. Sounds like a fair deal.

Comments or thought would be appreciated.

Do you have all the specs? Piston type and material, cam, compression, rods, under/over on rods/mains/bore, heads, valves...

You should be able to get a FE rebuilt including the intake for around 2 grand. Then there is labor to be added.

My 2 for a daily driver, sounds over kill.

I've got that and it looks good. 9.5:1 CR, ARP rod bolts on Ford FE rods, Edelbrock Al heads, bronze guides, new sealls and bearings, hydraulic cam with .562/.565 lift, , Edelbrocl RPM intake and carb. brass freeze plugs, plus it has h2o pump and starter on it.

Really wondering if anyone has run any of Tuff Dawgs engines and if so, what did they run like.

when I built my 390 I bought some parts from tuff dawg , real nice guys and knew what they were talking about (called and asked questions) so if you can get engine and trans for $4k I'd say go for it as long as it looks right .
