Cool Ticking at idle.. just purchased

Hey guys. I just purchased an 05 f150 with the 5.4L Triton. I don't remember hearing the ticking during my 2 test drives, but after signing the papers and parking it in the garage I definitely hear the ticking. Only at idle, goes away at higher engine rpm. I'm still under the 3000mi/60day used car lemon law for NY state. How should I approach this with the dealer?

I just purchased an 06 a few weeks ago as well. The salesman told me that all the 5.4's have a tick due to one of the joints in the exhaust, but it does go away after things get warmed up. Up to you, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Sounds like normal 5.4 ticking to me. I wouldn't worry about it.

So there's no danger of any failure from the ticking? It's super annoying sounding.

If its the right exhaust manifold have it fixed by the dealer. Its probably an exhaust leak. Mine ticks to until shes warm. I keep putting it off cuz i know its a manifold leak.

I've never heard an exhaust leak make a ticking noise. It does it when it's warm, under 1200RPM. Seems to be louder the longer I run the truck.

Goes away above 1200 rpm and is just a tick you're fine. If you hear metal in metal type noise that's obviously bad.
