VHF radios, dash/consoles

Hi all,

I would love to see some pictures of radio installations, and various console/dash combinations. I might get a 650 dash in the future, but need some ideas on installing a couple of mobile radios, on the floor or console. Trying to put together a nice usable setup. I have the 40/20/40 seats, but have already gutted the center for space under the folding center console.

Thanks.

That's an idea I've been toying with too. I kind of want the F650 console, but I'd also like to get rid of the center seat thingy and replace it with something more usable for storage/electronics/accessories etc.

I have been wanting to put together something for a while, and now my fire dept wants me to have a radio, so. I never thought I would bitch about cup holders, but mine are just so freaking small. I want to put a Nalgene size bottle in something. Time to try to come up with a nice usable setup.

This is my work console. Does this count? Haha. My F650 console just has 6 switches nothing special.

If you look into emergency vehicle up fitters you will find lots of options for consoles for your purpose.

I drove professionally for ~1 million miles. I never want to hear another CB as long as I live, lol.

I second that. I've got no use for a cb. A vhf on the other hand I'm all for. I find there's a lot less nonsense on them

I designed a bracket a few years ago that uses the inboard visor clips. It might be slightly on the light side for what you want to use it for, but you might be able to beef it up.

The plans are in this thread:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...g-bracket.html

At the end of the thread there is a link to a license-plate backup camera mounting plate, also.

Here is my setup I use it for the fire department. Motorola UHF CDM1250 VHF CDM1250 and Uniden 996XT scanner and I made the switch panel from the air box I took out.

I like that bracket Kel, but I have the overhead console. It gave me some ideas on how to improve my cb bracket though. I mounted mine above the passenger visor.

Thanks fordtruck. I am debating on either mounting on the floor or from the lower dash. I will have a VHF for now, but an 800mhz is in the future also, so leaving room for two.

Kind of a separate issue, has anybody had problems with radio/trailer brake interference? My Prodigy says mount at least 12" away from any RF, but I have seen some almost next to each other.

Here is mine. Jotto no longer makes these but you can find similar ones here: Havis Products | C-VS-0309-F250 1999-2007 Ford F250 12" Under Dash Console
