CV narrowing
#16
To install one of these you have to like newer style wheels, or be willing to order an older design with a high offset.
The CV front end will fit not narrowed on the 53-56 assuming there isn't a crazy drop in height. My tires are just tucked under the fenders. I narrowed mine 1.5" for a good tight fit and to have a little more wheel-fender room. If you go lower you need to narrow it and offset your frame rails further.

"HOW TO" Shorten a power steering rack. | The H.A.M.B.
THAT IS MY THREAD
So you guys are in luck, I will try to repost them here soon.
It was easy if you have a lathe or cheap machinist, and the ability to tig aluminum. I had around 50.00 in my whole narrowing process and rebuild.
My plan is to use this to get the thing on the road, and then order a custom one off rack when/if this thing has problems.

Hey buddy,
I want to do this to my truck. I bought a 05 vic suspension and I found a machine shop to do my work. Any chance you can message me the step by step what you did with measurements or if you have drawings? I know it's a lot to ask but I don't want to mess it up and any help at all plus
I guess I'm kinda being lazy about it lol. Thanks tim

All I literally did was take 1.5" right out of the center of mine. I would go 1.375" (The 1.5 was tight after the frame was straightened. Required some nudging with a hammer to get it back in.
If I were to do it again, I would offset my frame rails further and chop about 3" out of the middle to open up wheel selection a little more.

Yeah, sorry, I have been patiently waiting for my truck to get back from paint.
No real magic on how to do it. I just cut 2.75" out of the middle and built some up and down spacers for the height of the frame. welded in some bolt tubes to keep the frame from squishing and boxed the frame.
The rear A-arm mounting I just built with some 3/16" steel. Drilled holes and bolted together. Paid a little attention to caster here, but honestly not much... I am not planning on road racing.
