7.3-6.0 Boost Leak Tester

For those out the that haven't got a boost leak tester for there 7.3 or 6.0 yet here a simple way to build yourself one out of simple thing around in your workshop , all the materials i used where just off cuts or parts not being used.
This can be built from PVC pipe or as i did steel.

4''x 5'' pipe left over from the exhaust job last month , it can be as long as you wish, this is just the length i had.

A piece of flat plate for the top , 4'' x 3/16''

4'' Exhaust pipe and the top fitted .

1/4'' x 1/4'' Male Hex nipple , cut this in half.

Drill two 1/2'' holes in the top , if you want to have a gauge and the air fitting.

I used a 1/4'' bush for the gauge out let just cut the thread off, this is what you end up with , now you start fitting together.

Clean up the edges on the cut off fittings and the top. The fittings are ready to weld on.

The fitting are welded in place.

Clean up the welds with a wire brush and get it ready to fit the housing.

Weld the top to the pipe .

Clean up the welds, polish the top with a wire brush and sander.

I fitted a gauge and stop tap, this is your choice .

This is what you end up with just from scrap steel laying around the workshop.
You can build one form 3'' pipe that's your choice I went with 4'' as that's what i had is stock .
This Boost Leak Tester now can be used to detect any boost leaks you think you have .
Just pull the air filter and intake tube so the turbo is accessed and fit a 4'' or 3'' rubber tube to the turbo and add some compressed air 5-15 psi and use some soapy water to detect the leaks around all you boots.

Hope this helps someone or some newbies that have just joined the Diesel club.

No I'm all good in that area , everything is new when i up-graded the turbo (RR boots, Turbo etc ) , It's the sort of tool you make and probably only use it twice.
