Mustang GT IFS swap?

Guys I have a question, I see the CV IFS swap is very well detailed in some swap threads. My question is can I use a 98 Mustang GT IFS like the CV one?

Probably not due to the narrow track width and subframe width.

Have you measured the critical dimensions? Of course you have.

Also you need to think about the kind of weight that you are putting on that suspension, especially if you want to tow, much less put anything in the bed. Compare the weight of GAWR numbers for the front axles of the two vehicles and think about the weight transfer to the front axle when you brake

Track width on the 74 front is (according to what I saw posted here when I searched) 60"

Track width on the 98 front is 58.125 according to the measurements I found on corner carvers.

subframe width I had not considered. So it seems that even though you were trying to be a smart *** you still provided SOME information. You have my thanks.

Rock, weight differences didn't enter my mind really. I don't plan to tow anything with this truck with what I'm thinking of doing to it. The Curb Weight difference between the CV and the GT is 400-500lbs. I didn't think it would be too different of a set up. Hmmm, food for thought. I thank you as well Sir.

Monday, thanks for the link but I read that one already. Is there a particular post I should be paying attention to that mentions the Mustang IFS? I've seen several using the Mustang II IFS, but none with the 98 GT.

I appreciate all the help guys but I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and go the CV way. Maybe I can find someone to trade the 98 front IFS I have in my garage from a build a few years ago for the appropriate CV one.

Cheers
