I went with 2011 Ford OEM mirrors on my 02' E and 04' F-250. I have the power adjust/heated, etc and the only thing different is when you go to adjust them you have to move the **** opposite of the direction you want the mirror to move. You can buy the relay to change that but I can do fine with what I have...

You can also pull apart the mirror and switch the wires around on the "side to side" adjustment motor.

I'm not sure this is possible.. You are thinking there are 4 wires with a pair for each direction - but there are only 3-wires used for up/down and left/right. They share a common so you can't reverse Left/right w/o also reversing Up/down - hence there is a relay to fix it..

(page 124-1 in the '05 Excursion wiring manual)

EDIT: I think your idea WILL work IF the wires on the l/r motor are flipped

Its been documented here somewhere how to do the fix by switching the wires.

With the 3 wire system the two motors share the yellow wire. Since the motors each need a +12v and a ground to run the motor only seeing the one wire (yellow wire) input of whatever it is at the time won't move but the other getting the 12v and ground does. The polarity is just flipped to reverse the motor. When the other motor is asked to move the yellow wire comes into play again with either 12v+ or ground and the 3rd wire carries the other polarity to power the other motor.

So even though only 3 wires go into each mirror they are split off and each motor gets two wires one of which is a yellow that has been split/divided between the two. The mod to the wires is done right near the side to side adjustment motor.

I am wondering though where the split is in the yellow wire. I am curious if it is in the split wire loom right at the mirror mount. If it is this would be the easier place to get at the wires before installing the mirrors. Since I had not see any mention of the reversed operation I already installed my mirrors, so I will have to pull mine apart to get at the wires.

I installed them yesterday. Excellent quality! And the best part was that my 2005 XLT EX was already wired for running lights and turn signals! Who would have thought!

Man I wish I had the money for a set of the new"er" style mirrors! Guess I'll just have to live with my manual no heat no signal tow mirrors... at least the dog ears are gone!
