My ride

Purchased mine back n 2010 for the measly sum of $1,600.

1997 F250HD XL Standard Cab Longbed, 4X4, 460/E4OD/4.10 gears. Purchased from the yard where my brother used to tow out of; Lien Sale.

Three owners; #1 was the Southern Nevada Gov't. Truck had HF/VHF radios and strobes in it at one time. Owner #2 bought it with 80K on the clock, lost it when he tried to run from the cops in it after murdering his brother-in-law. I bought it with 131K on it. Had to put a solenoid pack in it and a year later, put new Goodyear Wrangler Duratacs on it.

Nothing special, needs some interior work to bring it up to snuff; Upholstery and that padded section on the right side of the dash recovered. Might send that one piece to Just Dashes to be done.

Body is clean, needs bumpers replaced as they are both bent some. I'm just going through it slowly.

1990 F250 Extended Cab 2wd 7.5 auto, towing and camper package, Red-N-Camp conversion with 69k original miles. Paid $1600 for it on 4/19/2014. Will be starting my thread on it soon. It has low miles since it was used as a yard truck at a Parasailing and Jet Ski rental company but it was not treated nice. I will be starting my thread on the truck soon, it will be my new daily driver.

But he installed...
-6" proComp Lift
-35/12.50/15 D/C Fun country IIs on MT 15x10? wheels
-4.56 gears w locker in rear
-Viper alarm
-Generic cruise control
-dual exhaust from muffler back

When i got it, the rear lift blocks were in wrong and it pushed the axle forward.
Every time you hit a bump, the rear tires wound hit the quarter panels. Had to swap the lift block with the factory axle wedge. Also, while the axle was shoved ahead to was jambing the driveshaft into the axle and the t-case. This blew out there crush collar and pinion seal(also causing the rear to "walk"). A friend of mine does axles so I had him tear into it. The original guy who did the gears did NOT used graded bolts to hold the ring gear to the carrier. A couple broke off then went THRU the diff cover. So they were all removed and the correct ones put in. Also added Trick-Flow aluminum diff cover too.

Once the axle was situated, I removed the 4" lift block and went with RuffStuffs 4" shackle flip.

Next up was remove all the aftermarket BS. head unit went in trash, along with the Viper alarm, aftermarket cruse, steering wheel cover and all the stupid stickers.

I put in factory cruise, put in a SIMPLE aftermarket CD player and 4 new speakers.

A FULL service was done on the truck changing every fluid and filter.

The interior was gutted, Tub was sandblasted rear seat belts were done away with, minor rust was fixed and the inside was POR15. Then scuffed and spray beeline was done on the in tire inside of the tub. Factory Gen 1 lightning seats were put in the front and a 92 rear seat was put in the rear. A mix of 91/92 charcoal interior panels were used to match the seats.

Also I take off the hard top unless stored and I run it topless to a Skyler tonnu cover.

Next up on the mod list is a tube rear bumper and tube side steps to match the proComp front lighter I have for it

Did doing the shackle flip help your ride much? Also would a person be able to make a 2 or 2.5 inch shackle kit?

This is what I got for 3200

Had to replace the washer fluid pump, aside marker light and the socket for that light, the tensioner pulley, have some rust spots to fix, and there is a little oil leak, and the rear tank doesn't work. That 5.8L runs great though and just over 187,000 miles bought it a year ago this August had just over 185,000 when I bought it but I have plans for her 😆 .

I bought my 1997 F250 Powerstroke with 115,000 miles and a blown E4OD. the PO gave me 2 extra turbos, but only one was complete and they both need rebuilds, and a set of used 7.3 injectors. he gave me a new steering column because the original needed to be replaced. he also gave me the meyers snowplow he had for the truck. i put around $4500-$5000 into it to pass inspection. the body is very clean except for a bit of rust over one wheel well. this is, in my opinion, a great deal that you dont come across very often. i spent a year or two going over craigslist looking for a truck to buy. good luck!

$1800.

1994 XL with the 4.9 six, and E40D transmission. 4X4.

So far:

$1100 on a partially rebuilt transmission, new pump, solenoids and plungers.

Air bag clockspring, replacement horns because the PO removed them when the clockspring went bad.

Coming soon: Either the starter solenoid on the firewall, and/or the starter itself. Now and then, I get just a click when trying to start.

Needs a new heater function selector. Touch the control and the default defroster function comes on. Leave the setting alone, and eventually, the air will blow out the correct places.

145K on the odometer. This was a work truck.

My 95 f150 351w 4x4

Paid 900 dollars for it at the beginning of last summer.
It needed a spring hanger on the passenger side, a fan clutch, and a tune up. (Other than the body rust, which I have new fenders and rear wheel well patches, need put on) The underside is totally solid.

Since I bought it, I've done:

New plugs/wires/cap & rotor/ ignition coil
New fan clutch
New spring hanger
New transmission pan gasket
Added K&N intake
3" body lift
New shocks
New TPS
New IAC Valve
New EGR Valve
New Vehicle Speed Sensor
Oil change, tranny fluid change, coolant flush.

I currently only need a new PSOM.. my truck has some issues shifting about one day out of every month and I've narrowed it down to that stupid chip behind the cluster.

Runs beautifully, drive it every day. Very sentimental!

1) 1988 F350 4x4 7.3L IDI. Bought it from a college kid for $2000 back in 2010. I mainly bought it for the axles. Drove it for a few months until the engine kicked the bucket...won't start no matter what we do to it. I sold the engine/trans/t-case to a friend for $300 and a D70.

2) 1988 F350 2WD 460. Got it from a friend for $1000 a year ago. Had to replace the throttle cable. Started and ran perfect, just a little down on power with 239,000 miles on it. Drove it for a year before I started tearing it down for a project just a few weeks ago.

Now:

Future (minus the big wheels):

My cost was 0 as my dad gave me his truck in June of 2011 with about 120,000 or 130,000 KMs. I don't accurately remember and I'm too lazy to go look at my records. Since then I've either did the following myself or had it done.

Complete tune up, plugs, rotor, dist cap, wires, oil, and air and oil filter.
TPS sensor
changed engine coolant
water pump replaced
EGR pipes replaced as they were rotted out
both exhaust manifolds replaced (warped to much to machine them) along with new Y pipe, cat, O2 sensor and related exhaust items up to the muffler.
Rear springs re-arched and new spring shackles, U bolts etc
Replaced the stock tires with 235/85R 16's
New front hubs, wheel bearings, rotors, callipers, brake pads and lines (the short flexible ones as the steel ones were still in good shape)
Replaced the rear brake drums, shoes and brake lines
E brake cable replaced
Rear tail light replaced along with the bulbs
dome light fixture and bulbs replaced
driver door courtesy light fixture and bulb replaced
Third brake light bulbs replaced on the cab
one headlight bulb replaced.
Numerous trim screws replaced inside the cab. Now I don't have anymore squeaks
I put a canopy on it this spring.

Lots of maintenance items and a few significant repairs but not too bad.

I checked the compression the other day and I have 148 PSI in one cylinder for the highest reading and 125 PSI in another cylinder for the lowest reading. An engine rebuild is being planned for next spring as I'm gathering parts now. I think the front seal on the tranny is leaking a bit so I'll have the transmission rebuilt at the same time too. Currently at 195,000 KMs

The first owner pulled a 5th wheel trailer and my dad didn't have the money to perform preventive maintenance so now I'm playing catch up.

Bought it in January 2011 for $700, with 110k miles and a Ford reman trans that was installed at 104k miles. Trans lines were rusted, so I couldn't start it, and the PO thought it "dropped a valve". Put trans lines on it, replaced the plugs, and it ran perfectly. The PO had already done a lot of the PITA work on it: radius arm brackets, ball joints, rear spring hangers and springs, and brake lines.

It was, however, pretty rusty. I welded in floor repair panels, replaced the coil buckets, coil springs and shocks, replaced axle u-joints, and went over everything the PO did to make sure everything was installed correctly. Once all that was done, I started driving it, and it's been a DD/rolling project ever since.

I've probably put $1500 or so into it since I've owned it. Some things were upgrades like wheels and a new radio, other things were general maintenance and minor repairs.

Smile My '92

1992 350 300I6 c6 2wd 4:10 HD Rear 185k
Bought it from Govt. Surplus Website from the pic I posted.
Paid $810.00 plus fees. Picked it up checked the fluids and drove it 300+ miles home.

Cleaned the decals off better, replaced the trailer connector and installed brand new headlight assembles. Tune up. Put winter tires on for last winter. Two weeks after I got it the WWasher broke. It has a CEL but runs perfect. Haven't even changed the oil yet 'cause its clear.

The previous owner removed the mid-ship tank because it leaked, I'm in the process of installing a used one.

I'm not a Ford guy but I knew what it was and it's a very solid HD truck!
