That is the reason that I towed my model A Vicky cross country in 3rd gear with the clutch blocked down such that the Cluster and input gear spun but not the engine. The only concern that I had was the pilot bearing is free spinning all the time, however I felt at the time that was the best situation for the A with a closed drive train. The pilot bearing was fine.

Well tomorrow is the big day. I will begin the journey back to Texas with this truck. I took it for a drive today and it exceeded every expectation I ever had. Runs and stops like a dream. Not a speck of rust. No bondo and a really nice paint job inside and out.

You may see me traveling along I 40 to Santa Rosa tomorrow, or Highway 84 to Lubbock after that. Thanks to everyone for their input to make this journey possible.

I will post up pics along the way.

Good thing you weren't on the road today! The winds were unbelievable! Be careful, I-40 on the eastern plains is famous for bad crosswinds. I was coming south against it and was about deaf from wind noise by the time I got home.

I went up to Sandia Peak this afternoon! Wow that was some wind. Hoping tomorrow is not as strong. My pull truck won't have any power issues, bug I sure hate gripping the wheel that hard for so many hours.

I made it! Left Albuquerque late Sunday and made it to Clovis. 1 episode of Swaying on I40, so I had to settle for 60mph max, 55 going down any hill. 690 miles traveled pulling the truck at 60 mph. Got her home, reinstalled the driveshaft and headed out for a spin. She runs like a top here in Texas. Here

Home. My copilots are stoked!

That is a nice looking truck! Did the tow dolly put the dents in the lower fenders? Same thing happened to me, didnt even know about it until I got the car home. Now I only use trailers.

Only on the passenger side. We loaded it a little to far over on the passenger side and got a dent. After reloading and centering, there was plenty of clearance. Luckily the trailer fenders are plastic, so they left no scratches and the dent has no crease. I am pretty sure I can warm the paint up and press the dent back out. Doubt it will be noticeable at all.

I consider myself lucky. I drove Henry [1950 F1] home from his previous abode 30 miles away. It was very pleasent and I got lots of waives and smiles!
