This is correct. I only cut off about 3/4" off the end of mine where it sticks through the rad support. This allows more of the outside cool air volume to flow to the filter. Pre-filter air volume is a big factor in post filter volume and velocity.

If I remember correctly, isn't there a gear set from a 429 you can install to get rid of the retarded factory timing?

I believe the EFI 460's came with the zero timing unlike the retarded timing like the pre 87.

Yeah I wasn't very clear on that if you look down between the grill and the radiator just to the right you can see where the air tube comes thru remove the air tube and cut just the curved part off.

Ok ill take a look tomorrow. I have another question. It first started on just my rear tank but now both are doing it if it sits all day at work or overnight it will fire up and die several times before it will actually stay running. Like the fuel is bleeding all the way back to the tanks. Any ideas what would cause that? And could that have something to do with my lack of power? My truck is a gas guzzling gutless land yacht.

Stock injectors are 24lb/hr. and are sufficient for up to ~375 hp. The catch code is on your PCM, but since you have a '96, it should also be conveniently located on the bottom drivers side of the hood directly above the fender well. It should be a 5 digit alpha-num. combo for an EEC-V. I'm not sure where you are at or what is available for speed shops in your area, but you can buy a quarter horse chip and binary editor from Moates.net and DIY pretty reasonably. Stay away from an aftermarket PCM, as your current one is already capable of many things that the aftermarket is not.

I don't have much exp. with this but my guess is that your sending units are shot or your sender relay is. How long did you drive it on one tank?

Don't blow your money on a K&N or other "performance" filter. All it will do is lighten your wallet and allow more dirt and sediment into your engine. If you had a race engine turning 7500 RPM then it would be a good choice, however a plain paper filter will flow more than enough for what you have.

You'll get better response starting your own thread, rather than resurrecting an 8 year old one.

Thanks for bringing me back!

Set base timing to 12 degrees btdc. Remove spout connector on the inner driver fender before setting timing. Best bang for your buck.
