Truck totally dead
#33
I had the same problem with my 13 scab with 8300 miles. Called roadside assistance and they towed the truck to the nearest dealership. They called me 2 hours later and said the battery was toast and replaced it with a new one.
This is the second issue i have had with the truck. The first being rear brakes making an occasional grinding noise when i come to a stop. Been to the dealership 3 times for the issue and all they do is turn my brake rotors and scuff the pads but it never fixes the problem.Other issues are the drivers seat seams loose at times and the power seat makes a noise when i move the seat front or back. I leased this truck (thank god) and have leased before (all chevys) and typically buy them off lease. I will either be turning this one in or selling when my lease is up and probably be in the market for a silverado or tundra. I was a Ford guy in my youth having 3 different Mustangs and a 95 F150. The quality has gone down hill in the new mass produced Fords.

Fords have been mass produced since the first assembly line in 1913. If an intermittent noise out of your rear brakes and one dead battery is enough for you to declare poor quality you have some unreasonable expectations. Those are all extremely minor issues in what otherwise would be considered a great truck.
Whatever does it for you, I hope your next Chevy treats you better.

I've been thinking I should replace my battery soon as my 2011 has years and miles on it now. The battery is absolutely the original one. Am I to infer from this thread that I cannot simply go buy a nice new battery and install it myself? Or is this not the case? I did have both cables off a few weeks back to clean the crud off them and the posts, make everything shiny looking and put them back on with some anti-corrosion spray. Didn't have a problem then, so I guess I shouldn't have a problem swapping a new one in then?

A couple of years ago I replaced the original battery in a 12-year-old Ford Contour. I currently have a '97 Lincoln that I've had for a couple of years with a battery stamped "2003". Passes every load test I give it, and has happily started the old girl in below zero weather last winter. You wanna replace a battery that's only a few years old without any symptoms? That's like a 45-year-old nonsmoker with no issues asking for a heart transplant because he feels his heart is getting old.
