Picked up this gem today near Uvalde, Tx. 65k original miles. Hasn't been on a highway or public roadway since 1998. Used on a ranch and is rust free. Original wood bed, decent shape. needs a fresh set of shoes but other than that, turned the key and it fired up, first crank. Couldn't pass it up.
Finally made it home and parked this olgirl in the shop.
Do NOT believe the miles shown on the odometer, as it reads to 99999.9 then returns to ZERO!
Knowing the area, and the way a ranch vehicle is used, I would not be surprised if, in this case, the odometer is correct. If it didn't come from a ranch then I wouldn't be too sure. The '79 F-350 I bought a couple of weeks ago has about the same miles on it, and I know for a FACT that it shows the correct miles.
My '79 F-150 rarely gets driven anywhere except on my ranch. Last year it clocked less than five thousand miles.
Well I am pretty sure that push bar #17984 never came out in a "chrome" option, black only. I have seen pics of only one after it got chromed by the owner.
Do you have documentation to support that it was a factory chrome option.
Maybe in your books there is something on the Indy pace truck options? What I believe is it was a factory offered option?
On the OP's truck I can even see the driving lights in his pic, that are maybe Marchal?
Was the pace truck set up from Ford or some dealership? Almost ever pic of that truck has a black push bar on it.
And there is a difference in the 73-77 versus the 77-79 mount ability.
