Bendix Power Assist Parts

So I guess I'm sending my Bendix control valve and power cylinder off to Red Head next week. Stangersite has become all but useless since I used them last, about 5 years ago. He said he 'MIGHT be able to get' a valve rebuild kit, and can't get anything for the cylinder. Called up RedHead, and whatever twink they had behind the counter answering phone calls didn't know a whole lot. I've used Redhead before, so I'm not worried, but was curious if anyone knew if they supplied new bushings with the power cylinder (said twink didn't know and couldn't get anyone to give him an answer). If not, does anyone have a source, my 37 year old pieces have seen better days. Suggestions on what to use (other than swapping to integral)???

Given their reputation I can't imagine they wouldn't (supply new bushings ) .. I would stay on them though until you get a definitive answer .. I have found kits on craigs list .. Check your PM for a link

No problem .. Hope it works out .. I have had pretty good luck finding hard to find parts on craigslist .. If you have paypal have them invoice you .. Otherwise send a postal money order with a tracking number .. Do not skip the tracking number part because the actual time it takes to get your money back on a lost money order is 2 months and $6.50 .. I found that out the hard way .. My last score

I have already purchased the parts to swap my steering system over to integral but am curious as to your final cost to rebuild the original system.

These trucks with the original power assist are getting harder to find and it would be nice to be able to keep everything stock if possible.

Any particular Ford dealer...or just walk in to the parts counter and give them the parts number and they can order??? Last time I went in and asked the guy behind the counter for something older than 04...he kinda went cross eyed, then limp.

It's gonna be $700 when it's all said and done. But that's not particularly bad considering if you buy all new integral parts it's about the same price...and the benchworks conversion is $1000+.

But, this time, you have the Ford part number: D3TZ-3C590-A
If you buy from an FTE Ford Dealer Parts Dept Sponsor, you'll get a discount. The problem is, the shipping charges may eat up most of the discount.

MSRP: $42.10 - The closest sponsor to NC is: autonationfordwhitebearlake.com online price: $ $27.79 / Auto Nation (formerly Tousley) Ford - White Bear Lake MN

Here's a coupla NC sources. What their price will be, I dunno. Dealer net cost is: $25.26.

CAPITAL FORD in Charlotte NC has 4 = 704-598-2598.

DENNIS CARPENTER in Concord NC has 9 = 800-476-9653.

$356 for the valve rebuild, $342 for the cylinder rebuild. That's from redhead. Lare's out of Ohio is a bit cheaper. I'll also be in to it for $100 in hoses, and if redhead doesn't supply the necessary bushings, I'll need to spend another $50 plus shipping.

So you did get through to them and they'll take the job ? Just the bushings is the question still? Do you have a link for Lare's ?

2004: After attending the Studebaker Drivers Club National GTG in Charlotte, I drove to DC's place in Concord.

I planned to spend about 100 bucks, but when I walked in, noticed glass show cases full of NOS goodies, so...

3 hours later, I left...having spent 3,000 bucks! Take a look-see at post 10 again. A Ford dealer in Charlotte has 4, DC has 9.

There's no doubt RH will take the job...I am sending the parts to be rebuilt, I just don't know about the bushings yet.

Thanks...I'm a member of a couple Ford and Bronco clubs and we meet there for get togethers. I've sent more money to DC than I care to keep track of. I sent them 15k in parts in one of my restorations. I'll give them a call...probably call Green Sales too...they're usually a go to for my parts picking as well.
