Hi Guys,
I had the pleasure of talking with Paul's son Rich today.
Pauline and Rich read this thread a few weeks back and it brought them great joy. They know what a great man he was and it was nice for them to see he had so many good friends. They want to thank everyone for the flowers and all the kind words.
Rich gave me the OK to add some detail, Paul fought hard until the end as we knew he would.
Paul and Rich were on some very challenging trails. Paul had come to a very steep downhill and could not stop in time, he went over the edge and the 4 wheeler landed on him. He suffered severe injuries. Broken ribs, his spine was disconnected from his pelvis, pelvis / hips broken and a lot of internal injuries / bleeding. Paul remained conscious although the pain was intense. He said it was the worst pain he had ever been in and Paul has been through a lot. Rich got Paul's 4 wheeler back up and got Paul back onto the machine. Although Paul had lost the use of his legs he insisted he would ride out. I can't even imagine how the next few hours would have been. They were a far ways back and the ride out was long and challenging. The accident happened at around 10:30 AM and Paul rode until he could no longer work the throttle at which point his son began to tow him. Paul was still conscious. At around noon Paul lost consciousness and they found some other riders who called 911 and he was air lifted to the hospital where he fought hard for 13 days.
It is very hard for Rich and Pauline but Rich seems to be holding up well. He is 1 hour away from his mother and wishing he was closer at this time.
Rich is very proud of his daddy and we all know Paul was very proud of his son.
I invited Rich to pop in here and say hi and I hope he does. I also hope he calls me again to chat.
Rich is working on getting Paul's 4 wheeler fixed up and back on the trail because he says that is what his dad would have wanted.
Our prayers are with you Rich, the grand-kids and Pauline.
I miss Paul very much

Thanks for sharing Darren.
What a testament to Paul's character both as a man and a father. He has instilled in his son, the strength he possessed to go on, the courage to fight for what you believe in, and a spirit that will live on.
God Bless you Rich and Pauline. May God keep and comfort you in the time of your loss. Perhaps someday we shall meet and share memories of someone we both enjoyed, and now miss dearly.
RIP HDSlider
