STILL HAVE INTERMITTENT SHIMMY

cant figure it out, I have a shimmy at 45 and up, but not all the time. I have had the whole front end apart for other reason, but the wobble is still there not as often though.

here is what I have done so far.

left wheel bearing had play in it, replaced that, while that was off checked all ball joints no play at all, remove axle shaft replaced all seals on it inspected u joint in excellent shape. removed right hub because it will not hold vacuum removed axle on right replaced all seals and inspected joint it was fine, ball joints fine also. esof now works as designed
found left front caliper seized replaced and retested ok
cleaned inspected and relubed auto locking hubs.

checked all the steering components they are tight except sway bar links make noise over bumps taking care of that this week

most of the time the truck runs smooth as silk no wander in steering or nothing but then I will just shimmy out of nowhere. any ideas?

I was thinking of taking the front drive shaft off to check those u joints but didn't think that would cause this.

I fixed my wobble by changing the track bar. The rubber bushing on the chassis mount end was a little soft.

I spent about 2500 finding mine.

it was the u joints. not the one's on the front of truck but the rear.

also have the drive shaft balanced.....

I know right, I thought mine was the front too.

I did almost everything that you did.

Also I checked mine for play. nothing. had 2 shops check them..... they all said they looked good. took her to a driveshaft place. they knew already what it was. I let them replace the u joints. AND balance the DS. and WOW what a difference.

NO one could have told me that the shimmy/shake was NOT the front end.

Mine would happen at 50 MPH, then settle down. then again at 55 then again at 63.

I think I might of found my issue after driving home today I checked each wheel because it started doing it on the way home my pass side rear inner wheel was hot all the rest were cold. Leads me to believe another seized caliper. That may or may not be the isdue but its a definite issue either way. I will fix this weekend and report back.

Bohiaa thanks for the input! I have 2004 Ford F250. My vibration usually happens at 45 miles an hour and then around 72 miles per hr worse at 45 mph until I accelerate to 50 or better then it's gone . I can look back with my side mirror and see the back area of the tailgate etc bounce up an down . I went to new brake drums and brakes and new blustering shocks and had also downsized from my 35's to 32s Michelins and problem still there . I was gonna go after the front ball joints but I'm thinking ujoints . Which ones did you get changed and how much $$$$
Thanks

Do you have any wander in the steering? How's the transverse shock?

It's the shock absorber on the steering linkage. I think it's called a dampener.
