Which grant mounting kit for the 1996 E250?

I had a grant wheel in my e150 1990, I liked it so much instead of the bearish big stock wheel. Wanted to mount in my 1996 E250 but the mechanic told after he tried, the mounting is different ( I haven't seen, i relied to the mechanic's statement ) so he didn't mount. Grant says it is the same, but the communication with them is anything but persuasive...Stupid situation. Does anybody know the truth?

Most likely your mechanic is correct----steering wheel fitment to a column with clock spring would be far different from its predecessors. Probably beginning in model year '92 this change began, whenever steering wheel airbags became standard equipment. To wit:

IIRC Grant's mounting system was/is geared more towards the older style horn button arrangement---not sure how that would or is supposed to work with the clock spring and air bags.

I can't see the pictures...but I understand what you mean. So probably there is no solution to mount the wheel i like. Or at least the info is not accessibile. It's a pitty. I hate this ship size wheel combined with a semit truck like gear ratio steering box. I got used about it but still would to change it on my van. I remember the first time when I drove my van i was shocked how many times I have to twist the wheel to make a turn

Any idea who is well informed about the ways to change the wheel for a smaller one? Maybe Mustang steering wheels can be ok? Are they any smaller? Same fitting?

I don't have a problem with the stock steering wheel so never looked at replacing it. No idea who can bypass the safety measures built into the modern SRS steering wheels.

Best of luck with your project!
