Airbag fitment

I read a number of threads posted on here about fitting airbags to their vehicle (including watching Epic's video).

I'll be using airbags to help support the weight of a pop-up slide in camper (Northstar 850SC), which will see quite a bit of off-road use, so wanted to retain articulation. As such, I really liked what smokey_diesel did here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nd-theory.html
But don't have access to a welder at the moment, so had to do things a bit differently.

My truck has a gooseneck hitch fitted, so it meant the airbags that sit on top of the springs weren't an option. I ended up going with the Firestone 2535 kit (like a lot of you have), with a set of Daystar Airbag cradles to retain articulation
Amazon.com: Daystar KU09140BK Air Bag Cradle, Polyurethane, Black , Fits All 6" DIA. Convoluted Air Bags: Automotive Amazon.com: Daystar KU09140BK Air Bag Cradle, Polyurethane, Black , Fits All 6" DIA. Convoluted Air Bags: Automotive

I won't bother boring you with the install details (watch Epic's vid, its excellent), but it was very straightforward.

I also purchased the Firestone Wireless Command II and the mounting bracket

Amazon.com: Firestone Ride-Rite 2540 Wireless Air Command Generation II: Automotive Amazon.com: Firestone Ride-Rite 2540 Wireless Air Command Generation II: Automotive

Amazon.com: Firestone WR17602529 Air-Rite No-Drill Digital/Wireless Air Command Frame Mount Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: Firestone WR17602529 Air-Rite No-Drill Digital/Wireless Air Command Frame Mount Kit: Automotive

This will still allow individual inflation on the left and right bags, has an accessory outlet, and is very simple to wire up (3 wires!). Also doesn't require any wiring/air lines into the cabin. The kit is pretty comprehensive, all fasteners you would want, wires are pre-loomed etc.

Didn't quite follow the instructions to bolt it up (wanted compressor/manifold on the inside of the frame rail and protected from flying rocks etc.)

Compressor etc.

All in all, really happy with it. Ride is much better with camper on, no squat, and can even notice an improvement unladen. Compressor kit/controller works really well too.

Next plan is once the stock Michelin AT2's have worn out, I intend to go a set of 295/65 Toyo AT2's on the stock wheels and fit a leveling kit.

That lower air bag mount looks off, bag looks twisted and tilted.

The mount is fine, I just have to re-align the airbags with the cradle since fitting them.

Nice work, thanks for sharing.

For those who aren't familiar with the daystar cradles, watch the video on this page:
Daystar™ - Driven by Design

which then lead me here:
Ford Super Duty Long Travel Airbags
but I didn't what that much lift, or spend $850.

So, let us know how your system works out for you after you have some miles on it.

I also didn't like the cost of the carli bags - nor that they mounted on the inside of the frame rail (much less roll resistance with a camper, and I worry with that kind of bracketry having fatigue).
