I feel the truck is definetly with the price. The only reason I would throw it at the 1,000 dollar range is because of age and I remember that's how it was. But that was 20 years ago. Anything over 5 years or 100,000 became a 1,000 dollar vehicle. But today's economy and the fact its all she is I'm getting a really good deal. Some guys on here have paid more for less.

Well reading posts and reaserch. But a month to go till I pick up big red. But I'm just glad I'm getting a very good fun truck to drive and use. It'll be interesting to see if cruise control or ac works. The owner said he doesn't use either. Lol.

I had no idea. I'll check into that but I don't think it'll be needed just an added bonus. Tho I might see if I can get the ac working hopefully it just needs a charge. But if not I can always fix that after I get the truck fuel lines fixed up.

Congrats!

The turbo kind of depends on what you want to do with it. If you just want stock boot levels then any of the big 3 (ATS, Banks, Hypermax) will do. If you're trying to max it out you'll have some mods to make to that engine first.

I regret the day I didn't go look at a 1986 CCLB T19 IDI. I think I'd be much happier with that truck than the one I bought. Oh well.

Mechelement what did you end up buying just outta curiosity. And as far as the turbo just to give it a little bit of support for the hills. Also was thinking of an engine brake as well.

As long as the used one is complete and the turbo isnt shot, theres no reason not to get a used one. However even if it needs a rebuild, you can get it cheap, have it rebuilt and still be into it less than half of a new kit.

Thanks for the input. For just some boost and possible fuel economy would the used as be the best for cheap budget build? Or does anyone have better idea?

Go used for sure, just make sure youre getting a complete kit and the turbo is at least in rebuildable shape.

Will do. I'll keep an eye out for a used one. And how would you know the difference between a rebuildable vs non rebuildable one? I've only owned gas cars so I don't know exactly what I'm looking at yet. Thanks for all the input.

Nice. I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with big red. I know I've seen it already but its everything I've wanted in a truck.
