I am thinking that HiO's suggestion, of the exhaust tubing, and welded to a screen, may be the most secure, sturdy, and design-easy method. Perhaps, a dual flair tip could be cut into 2 pieces, using the curved section to join onto the pillar, at the right angles, would work? Since I am North of the border for the holidays, I have access to local muffler shops, (who speak English), and I can get my idea over better than in my rudimentary Spanish.. Vamos a ver. Not having my truck here, does limit my custom fit effort some, as I am not exactly sure of the angle of the post, but may be able to approximate it closly??? Anybody able to measure the angle of the 67 -72 windshield post?
