Thread wasn't a waste of time. You had a problem, and needed advise on how to solve it. Turns out, you simply failed to return the suspension to "normal" ride hieght prior to torquing down the fasteners. Easy mistake to make, but you learned why it was a mistake, and I doubt you will ever repeat it......

 

Yes another lesson in the world of truck restoration. Im sure ill have more questions when they come up. Thanks Again All.

 

I like it. In process of building a 78 shortbed with djm kit for son. I cut half a coil and remved 2 leafs to get a bit lower though.

 

I whish I could have mine lower Canadian roads make that impossible.

 

I hear you there .. In Pa. about this time of year we have pot holes so big you need a well built off road vehicle to survive .. Then in a month or so you get a free undercoating when the road repair crews start their work

Suspension components should be tightened with the truck's weight on the ground and afterwards rolling it forward and back to take out any remaining bind like tire scrub. And now ya know....
