What is the mpg of the 2.7???

Why are we not hearing about it. Ford probably has 100's of thousands of miles on that engine, so don't say they don't know yet. This is a marketing disaster for them to not let people know.

People are still talking about the truck so I'd say that "marketing disaster" is quite overstated. What would be marketing disaster is to have all the info out and the trucks not be available for another 6 months.

Building anticipation by seeping out info is pretty smart.

Finalized HP/TQ and MPG numbers are always the last info Ford puts out. Usually you don't get that until right before the truck goes on sale.

Ford knows a thing or two about marketing new engines in trucks.

Besides, they are probably still tweaking the tuning and running and re-running the fuel economy test procedures. They have a pretty good idea, but I'll bet they are attempting to grind another 0.1 MPG or so out of it. It all matters.

Well if I had to guess on economy, standard cab short bed XL model 2wd 25hwy and 17 city or somewhere in that ballpark. We won't know until some time in October or December whenever they start to roll out.

You are probably pretty close. This will be followed by the people who buy a SCREW 4x4 with 3.73 gears who are upset not getting that 25 on the highway.

I think this engine has the potential to be a real game changer if they can pull it off. The weight savings from the Aluminum body alone will not create a huge MPG improvement, but paired up with a smaller motor, as long as it still has adequate power, can be. I don't think it's going to be in the eco-diesel range, but it doesn't need to be with the price difference between the two. 24 - 25 Highway would be great.

If anything it'll probably get better mileage than the MOPAR 3.6 V6 offered in the Ram 1500s. But wait 18 months after the 2015 MY F150 comes out the 8 and 10 speeds autos will be out so we could maybe see 28mpg. If we can have a larger displacement engine that can get mid 20s all day long without sacrificing power, we have the holy grail. Its highly doubtful Ford would ever try to implement the Active Fuel Management that GM has (IIRC its a troublesome setup anyway). but it could help the EcoBoost.

Has there been any talk of the start/stop tech for the F150? To me, that's a very simple system that really helps the city mileage. Although, it may not help the EPA milage ratings, so maybe that's why it's not popular?

Start/stop is on the 2.7 Ecoboost. My only concern is direct injection - that seems to be the culprit causing gasoline in the oil in excessive amounts. Worries me more than anything else with Ecoboost. I'm not liking F150 direct injection if it keeps causing that.

Could buy the 5.0 F150 or the 3.5 if that suites you better than the Ecoboost. Still can get low 20s with the 5.0 and still have V8 power with no turbos.

Those of us who are ready to buy now and have no idea what the mpg is are going to move on. They should have had a good idea years
ago.

If you're ready to buy now, the '15s aren't available... so why does it matter?

As you may know, mileage will vary. The 2.7 will get exactly 19.2 mpg, plus or minus 10 mpg.
